"Foi o tempo que passaste com a tua rosa que a tornou tão importante."

Uma das maiores vantagens de se viajar (e viver fora) são as pessoas que se conhecem. Ao longo da minha vida, que neste momento é uma "nossa" vida a três, temos conhecido pessoas fantásticas, amigos e companheiros. Para mim isto é do mais enriquecedor que se consegue ter durante a vida, principalmente porque se aprende que as pessoas e culturas conseguem ser tão diferentes e no entanto tão iguais. Aprendemos que existe bondade e maldade em todo lado mas que se pode ter a felicidade de nas nossas aventuras se conhecer sobretudo pessoas boas.

Isto faz-nos ver o mundo de uma forma muito diferente. De certo que hoje faço coisas diferentes (que aprendi podem ser normais noutros locais) mesmo tendo crescido com algum preconceito sobre elas no meu país (e a Nova Zelândia, com a sua cultura extremamente relaxada também ajuda a mudar-se muito). Ainda sei que muitas coisas que posso considerar normais podem ser ofensivas para outros (principalmente para os Asiáticos devido às suas grande diferenças culturais). Sobretudo crescemos como pessoas e com as nossas diferenças.

Engraçado como na lista das pessoas com que falo com mais regularidade tenho Iranianos, Ucranianos, Checos, Kiwis, Americanos (EUA), Canadianos, Brasileiros, Aussies, Malaios, Argentinos, Franceses, Britânicos, Alemães, Espanhóis, Holandeses, Russos e Sauditas. E se me perguntarem com que frequência falo com as pessoas dessas nacionalidades, a resposta curiosamente é "mais do que com uma grande parte dos Portugueses que conheço" (há excepções, claro). E muitos deles nem vivem aqui, é mesmo através do Skype.

Conhecer estas pessoas todas, conhecer outros Portugueses que como nós andam por esse mundo fora e ainda ter bons amigos em Portugal, tem me ajudado a regar outra das "minhas rosas" e aos poucos (pequeninos) ir aumentando a minha coleção d'"O Principezinho". 

Este livro em particular porque, para além de ser o meu livro favorito, descreve o que acho mais importante sobre a amizade. Esta é a minha coleção actual (pela ordem na foto):

Coleção no dia de hoje / Collection as it is today

One of the biggest advantages of traveling and living abroad is the people you meet. During my life, that now is "our life of three", we met fantastic people, friends and companions. For me this is one of the biggest achievements we can have in a lifetime because you learn that everyone can be so different yet we can all be so alike. We learn that there can be goodness and evil everywhere but we can been lucky enough to mostly meet kindhearted people. 

This allows to see the world through different eyes. Nowadays I do several things in ways that would be seen as "weird" back in the country where I grew up: Portugal (living in New Zealand also helps to be more relaxed, I totally recommend it). I also learned that things that I considered "normal" were seen as extremely impolite in other places in the world (specially in Asian - Japan in particular). Above anything else I think this knowledge makes us grow as human that share the same planet.

It's funny how, now, in the people that we talk more often we include Iranians, Ukrainians, Czechs, Kiwis, Americans, Canadians, Brazilians, Aussies, Malaysians, Argentinians, French, British, Germans, Spanish, Dutch, Russians and Saudis. We talk more often with people from these nationalities than with most Portuguese we know (some great exceptions of course) and many of them using Skype (no distance excuse)

Knowing all these people, knowing other Portuguese that, like us, live all over the world and still having good friends in Portugal, allow me to "give some water" to another one of my "roses" and, step by step, increasing my collection of my favorite book "The Little Prince.
